Apples with ‘Do not eat me’ stickers, hand sanitizer and boxes of matches greeted the guests for the launch of Written in Flames. Although Ms Giannoccaro has launched several books, this was a first for Ms Logan. Lynn Joffe entertained the audience not only with song and dance but also with eliciting information from these two dynamic authors.
The evening started with a showing of the trailer produced for the book – enticing everyone present to buy it! #writteninflames was the Twitter handle for the evening – with a prize on offer for the best Tweet (eventually won by Phillipa Mitchell).
According to the authors, co-writing is great! In this novel, each writer took on one of the characters: Eva was Delilah and Ashleigh was Nolan. This collaboration mostly happened over WhatsApp and GoogleDrive. The book was originally plotted using a one-liner per chapter so that each would know where they were heading. Pinterest was another tool that was used extensively to help with the visual aspects of the story. Many inspirational items were sent to each other including songs to help keep the story fresh.
Some of the highlights from the evening from the authors:
[if !supportLists]· [endif]For these two, self-publishing was the obvious route to go. One publisher told Ms Giannoccaro that he would consider her book when she had 10 000 followers, so obviously self-publishing was the solution.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Writing sex scenes – it is very technical. All things must be practical and writing about it is actually very unsexy!
[if !supportLists]· [endif]They decided to create two characters and put them in situations to get them out of (does that make sense….!) The characters directed the plot.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Eva is not as disciplined as Ashleigh. For Eva, most was written on her phone which she then emailed to herself. Ashleigh tries to write every single day.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Ms Giannoccaro has co-authored before while this is Eva’s first novel.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The book was finished when Ashlieigh said ‘It’s finished’!
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Editing happened live – a chapter at a time loaded to a GoogleDrive for 10 readers to comment on. So when the writing is finished, the first draft needs very little adjustment. It then went to the proof-reader and finally was then made print-ready.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Eva Logan is a pen name so that her two worlds do not become mixed.
What a fun evening with two bright, vivacious authors.

His one lover is a flaming seductress that taunts him with her beauty and danger. He couldn’t resist if he tried. Will they all get burned, or will they rise from their ashes? Delilah brings with her an intruder to his sacred zone. Curiosity has her trespassing upstairs. Her nocturnal neighbor fascinates her, the brooding tenant above her has her enthralled and captivated. She needs to be the one to extinguish his burning needs, but will he have tolerance for her compulsive habits or will he see Red? Passion is a wildfire which devours everything in its path.
