Entrance to this event was a donation to Rainbow Nation Animals, headed by Helen Taylor – a shelter for abused and abandoned animals in Soweto. The

Centre has a feeding, deworming and vaccination programme to ensure that the animals are healthy.

Selwyn Klaus and Tony Bentil entertained the audience with music and words to uplift the soul! From a young age Jenny Shone could communicate with animals. By watching body language and playing games, and with further learning, she has been able to develop her gift of animal telepathy and healing. Here are some of the nuggets gleaned from this performance by two talented artists and a chat by the author:

· Did you know that smell is what determines a pet’s favourite food?

· Each chapter was ‘dictated’ by the animals featured in each.

· Animal interaction benefits disabled people to a staggering degree. · A special bond belongs to a predator and its prey

· When you work with wild life, you face raw energy

· In everything you do, do it with your whole heart – message from a lion

· Jenny’s goal is to educate as many people as possible to tune into animals

· Jenny was nominated as Woman of the Year in 2007

Such a wonderful afternoon with talented and caring people.

About the book:

“Paws and Listen to the Voices of the Animals”, is an animated, interesting and informative introduction for every person and family who carry the responsibility of having pets at home or who work with animals. This delightful, humorous, non-scientific book will be a good place to start.

Jenny’s all consuming passion for animals is evident throughout the book and as she recounts her numerous adventures with a broad selection of animals domestic and otherwise, one begins to realise how lacking we often are in truly understanding their varied behavioral patterns and the life lessons, love and loyalty that they give so generously.

Smurfie’s story, conversations with animals, intuitive experiences, times of grief and joy, death, the healing process, rebirth all add to the richness of the varied animal experiences.

The growing moral concern for animals and their welfare by the general public, is putting pressure on animal behaviorists and scientists to investigate animal consciousness, suffering and their ways of communicating with us.

This book is educative in an accessible, easy to read format and will be enjoyed by anyone who has an interest in these noble creatures.
