Author Sojourner McConnell visited Skoobs, Theatre of Books via Skype for the launch of two children's books: Who's That in the Cat Pajamas? and When a Pachyderm Comes to Visit', books 1 and 2 in the Dolcey series.
MC for the event Andrew Christie rooted out some interesting facts about this author:
Has reading helped you as a writer? Yes! it has helped with my understanding and increases my
vocabulary. Reading instills a passion for knowing and understanding.
Have you been a reader your whole life? Yes!
She encourages her grandchildren (and she has 13!) to write with her - and two of them are writing stories for NaNoWriMo this year.
The Gull that Lost the Sea by Claude Clayton Smith is a favourite story she reads with her grandchildren and she read it at the launch for the children to enjoy.
There are more stories to come in the Dolcey series - the next involves an Owl and as a prize, one lucky
child at the launch was able to name the human character in the book (Spoiler Alert! The child in the story will be called Jo-han)
Brave children also asked questions - and received prizes for their courage!
Tango With Text collaborated with the author to have the books printed in South Africa and organised this launch. What a privilege to be able to work with such a delightful lady - who is always open and helpful to writers.
