A conversation:
Me: Hi there - I'm Kim
You: Nice to meet you, Kim, I'm 'you' (the reader).
Me: What brings you here today?
You: Just surfing the web, looking for new and interesting stuff. This blog looks like it might be fun, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.
Me: That's good to know - I'll try to make sure there is new and interesting stuff posted often!
You: Mmmmm.....what kind of 'stuff'?
Me: Well, let's see (pause, and a little flirty) if I said 'a little bit of this and a little bit of that', would that answer your question?
You: Not really - a little mystery is fine but that answer says nothing. Come - give some specifics at least.
Me: Ooookaaaaay! It is a book blog, so there will be lots of book-type stuff - chatting with people in the book industry (authors, publishers, artists etc), reviews of books I read and events I've attended, and the kicker - little nuggets telling you about me and my life! I hope to be able to get to know you a little better at the same time, so lets chat on Facebook often!
You: Tell me a little about yourself.
Me: Let's start with the things I enjoy (aside from books, of course!). My dogs - Jessie, Phoenix and Niblet. All three are my bestest-of-best buddies and I love them to bits!

(Finding and showing pictures) Aren't they gorgeous! Phoenix is my 'at home dog' but I walk Jessie and Niblet often at the botanical gardens which are close to where I live - so undoubtedly, there will be much to tell in that regard!
You: I have a cat which I cuddle, much to his disgust! He's a bundle of fluff, so I can't resist.
Me: What's his name?
You: Tumnus.
Me: From the Chronicles of Narnia?
You: Yeah, I know - not that original!
Me: I think it's great! My son has named our dogs over the years - except Niblet. I just loved the sound of that name and insisted on it! Of course, he was supposed to be no bigger than knee-height and then the name would have suited him better. He's a rescue and the shelter was guessing what size he would grow to. Boy, did they get this one wrong!! He's now 9 months old and as big as Phoenix, the German Shepherd. He also has many nicknames - most commonly used is 'His Nibs'!
You: Tumnus is very regal and doesn't like nick-names but I figure its all in the tone and as long as it is loving, I'll keep using them!
Me: I'd better move on, although it has been great chatting with you. I hope we meet again soon!
You: Me too! We can carry on the conversation at the next shindig - nice meeting you, too.
